Whether you are the tenant, home owner, landlord or estate agent,
if we are scheduled to complete work for you, please read the information below so that we can do our job as efficiently as possible, and everyone knows what to expect.
New Paragraph
We ask that you clear the affected areas to be treated from all personal possessions, curtains, blinds, towels and matts, clothes, shoes, cosmetics and when possible furniture.
If we have to move toys, clothes or other personal items this makes our day (and yours!) much longer and we can't take responsibility for items that may get damaged.
If you call us at a later date to ask where your blue fluffy slippers are we won't remember, so it's better for everyone if you clear your own things away ready for our arrival.
If curtains and blinds are mouldy we always recommend that they are not rehung. We are in the business of killing mould so we don't want to invite it back to a lovely mould free environment.
We all have things in the loft that we have long since forgotten or can simply do without.
If we are installing insulation for you, please clear the loft space as we may have to charge extra to remove items. This will allow us to lay more insulation meaning your home will benefit from improved thermal efficiency and so will your pocket when the heating bill arrives.
If we are surveying your property it is important that we can see the conditions that mould has been growing in.
Although it can be unpleasant, when possible we would ask you not to disturb the mould and not to open all the windows, as we need to get a true reading of the humidity levels in your home and the extent of the mould growth.
Please remember that mould can grow very quickly when humidity levels are high, so we advise you to book works as quickly as possible to avoid larger areas being affected that will be more expensive to treat.
Whilst we respect your privacy and will not open cupboards, wardrobes or move your personal effects, it is important for us to have access to any areas where mould growth may be present. We can only treat areas that we can see are affected by mould, so please clear wardrobes, move furniture and any personal items in areas where you have noticed mould, so that we can do our job properly and produce an accurate report.
We will contact the occupants in advance to agree a time to complete the works necessary. We will follow this up with a text message reminder the day before.
If for any reason we cannot access the property on the scheduled day, there will be a cancellation fee.
If you need to cancel it is important that you notify us within 2 days of the appointment to avoid being charged.
When properties have welched (sloping) ceilings that cannot be conventionally insulated through the loft, or bay areas that are very cold, a thermal skim is applied to insulate the area from the inside.
This cures to a textured finish.
The treatment requires a temperature of at least 10 degrees in order for the curing process to be successful. If the weather is unusually cold we advise occupants to keep their heating on low during this period.
It is advised that applying sticky fixers, or damaging the surface with nails, screws or fittings should be avoided as it compromises the efficiency of the treatment.
When the job is finished
Trade have a reputation of being untidy and leaving a mess behind.
We never go to a job without our trusted Henry and will vacuum the floors where our dust sheets have been, wipe down windows, skirting and doors and leave the house at least as clean as it was when we arrived, but usually cleaner!
Mould can permanently stain skirting, grout, silicone, wood and PVC so if you can see dark marks on surfaces where we have been working, it wont be because we missed it, it will just be discolouration that can't be removed.
The area will have been treated with a fungicidal wash, but the staining will be permanent.
The areas that we treat are not usually fully dry by the time we have cleaned up and are ready to leave, so we may not be able to put your curtains and blinds back up for you. When possible, we will at least put the fittings back up to make the job easier for you later on.
Ventilation solutions
Our extraction units, PIV's and MEV's offer excellent results which is why we offer a 7 year warranty on their performance. This means if anything goes wrong you can contact us and we will send a technician out to solve the problem with as little inconvenience to you and your tenants as possible.
Our fans contain smart data logging technology that tells us if they have been inactive due to tampering, so it is important that they are left to operate and no efforts are made to disconnect them.
If another contractor disconnects or tampers with the fan this will invalidate our warranty, so if there are other works going ahead at a property that require the fan to be isolated, it is important that you contact us beforehand.
We are busy working all over the Midlands, and to cut down unecessary miles we schedule appointments according to the area you live in. If the request to survey your property is made when we have just left your zone, it may be a few weeks before we are back. We appreciate your patience and are always happy to offer mould management advice until we can get to you.
Our decorative finish is always in white or magnolia and we use re-engineered paint which contains a minimum of 50% recycled content.
All of our products are non toxic and completely safe to use and we are happy to supply COSHH reports on request.
We wash and reuse all our gloves, buckets, dust sheets, brushes and rollers for as long as possible.
When paint buckets dry out, the used paint hardens and becomes very difficult to remove. Any new paint that is added becomes lumpy and leaves a messy finish on your walls and ceilings.
Many contractors throw their plastic buckets away after a few uses but we are still using buckets that have been used to treat hundreds of properties! We may ask you if we can wash out our buckets before the paint starts to set. If we do, rest assured that our paint is water soluble and we will do a great job at making sure it looks like we were never there.
When we refit loft insulation we only remove old insulation that is unusable. If it can stay where it is, we just lay the new roll on top of it to avoid sending unecessary waste to landfill.
If we are removing small waste from your loft we also separate and recycle any thing that is recycleable.t
